I’m mid way through Trade wars, pandemics, and chaos and can’t let my kindle down for three days already how close to home every word hits. It’s just incredible how Elouise hit the nail on the head with this one. Especially because I work for the top bank here in Canada and one of top 25 in the world, depending how you look at size, and I feel like I’m living through every pitfall and implementation fail mentioned in the book. So my long-winded answer to your question is that I can’t think of a single tech advancement that made my work easier or more productive over the past few years even though we are using one of the big six platforms for over 4 years. Needless to say that the implementation didn’t meet any of my expectations and hopes and still feels very manual, tactical, unproductive and in some sense even worse than before because we are now “encouraged” to key in the data in the platform so the analytics team can create useless fancy Tablou dashboards... I guess this falls under the good old saying “it needs to get worse before it gets better”. Best part is, our sales counterparts are getting better and better data and tools (read Salesforce) with every passing year while we are stuck with the tools from the ‘90s.
