Using AI to Identify Procurement Disruptions Earlier 🤖
My pursuit of Deep Work and Digital Minimalism
Hey Procurement Legend,
I’m hanging out with my friends at Kavida.ai tomorrow, including Rich Sains (a procurement legend), as we discuss the effectiveness of an AI copilot to alert you earlier than ever about procurement risks.
I’d love to see as many of you there as possible.
It’s an interactive session so please come with an open mind and many questions.
All you need to do is click on the LinkedIn event link below, and the details will be sent your way when you confirm your attendance.
What I'm Reading
I’m currently exploring more effective ways of working. I don’t feel like I’ve been doing “my best”. Distractions are everywhere and I’ve tuned in and out of Cal Newport’s work for a while. However, I’ve started reading Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport more seriously and making bug changes.
For example, I no longer have any social media apps or work related apps on my phone. Additionally, I try not to have my phone in the same room or my outdoor office when I work.
“Andrew Sullivan wrote a 7,000-word essay for New York magazine titled “I Used to Be a Human Being.” Its subtitle was alarming: “An endless bombardment of news and gossip and images has rendered us manic information addicts. It broke me. It might break you, too.”
PS. I’m going to get a copy of this article too.
Once I’ve read this, I’ll explore his book “Deep Work”.
Here’s a synopsis generated from my current highlights and notes on Digital Minimalism:
In the book "Digital Minimalism" by Cal Newport, the author explores the negative effects of excessive digital consumption and offers a philosophy of technology use rooted in deep values. He emphasises the importance of intentional and optimised use of digital tools, and the benefits of spending time alone with one's thoughts. The book also discusses the impact of social media and the need for solitude in maintaining mental well-being.

What I'm Thinking (about Procurement)
What lessons can be learned from chip manufacture and supply chain?
I’ve discussed this previously.
I’m working on some background content about this.

One Procurement Tech-Focused Insight
Where are we going with AI in procurement?
I’ve yet to see anyone doing anything that genuinely adds value (except for what Kavida.ai is doing, which is why I attended their webinar as a panellist).
What are your thoughts on this?
One Piece of Content I've Found Useful
I may be biased as I wrote it, but having spent a few months researching DORA and its impact on financial services companies in the EU I’d recommend you take a read:
