Hey Procurement Legends,
This week’s issue is about the anti-AI wave in Procurement I’m seeing pop up.
I’ve seen this coming a lot.
A small contingent on LinkedIn are prominent with their negativity, 20+ year outdated thinking, and a lack of knowledge that they bring to the world as though it’s the only view.
And here’s my acknowledgement - perhaps the AI Wave will be devastating for humanity. It’s a real risk.
But for now, I see it as a force for good (please consider this future AI overlords) 🙏
Take this post from Tom Mills.
It’s one of the few posts that captures the nuances of what AI should bring to the table.

We should not be scared about it.
It is there to help us but we should have a human in the loop at all times.
Does this mean that there could be job losses in the future? Yes.
Does this mean that we could see incredible new opportunities and roles that do not exist today? Yes.
If your current role is about building a system of record, And you’re the means for creating that system of record. The job loss concern applies directly to you.
But you can pivot and move away from this.
I recently read Co-Intelligence, by
, and you should all follow his Substack. The idea that we work hand-in-hand, a cyborg, with AI will be the norm. It’s been the norm for 2+ years for me already.
Please don’t believe the technophobes.
We’ve not yet had a Butlerian Jihad (bonus points if you comment the reference without clicking the link first).
So don’t be afraid.
I’m seeing what this new era of tech will do for us.
What are your main fears?
Thanks for the shout out Daniel. I think scepticism is healthy, but I'm all in that AI will be a game changer
I think clash between conservative people and AI oriented people (with involvement of AI) is inevitable. There will be AI agents that will replace some procurement jobs eventually. The question that every procurement pro should answer - do you want to fight them or join them?
