Hey Procurement Legends, we are getting into the depths of content in my WiP book, “The Future of Procurement” (name subject to change).
I WANT TO ADD HERE - THERE’S A SPECIAL 30% BLACK FRIDAY DISCOUNT ON SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR 24 HOURS ONLY ON AN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FOREVER! Definitely the best discount that I’ve done on that for you to join.
For me, this part of the book will be the primary focus. It’s all around the skills the digital procurement pro needs to have. This is the starter chapter to set the scene. Next up is personal knowledge management (PKM), a topic that truly sets you apart from the rest if you can master it.
I’ve not been able to create images/graphics as of yet, I’ll be doing that at the end of this writing process which I’ve realised will go into 2024.
Next Friday, we’ll have some tech/AI focused content for you.
PS. This is only for paid subscribers to World of Procurement. It costs £5.99 a month, and we guarantee we will provide you with content at a highly researched and detailed level that no other organisation can compete with (and we don’t take sponsorships to weaken our message or lead to bias).
Have an awesome weekend legend ✌️
Procurement Skills of the Future
You may have expected me to dive further into the Procurement Tech landscape. We’ll come back to that, and we must do so. However, the Future Procurement Pro, which we call the Digital Procurement Pro, will need to master a new skill set to succeed.
I’m adamant that the skills and knowledge only humans can possess, augmented with tech (including AI, of course…all aboard the AI hype train), is where our attention needs to be. At least, while we are only dealing with AI and not AGI, let’s not digress too much here. Technology will continue to change, and for a long time, procurement skillsets have not changed, and they are simply not keeping pace.
One problem with procurement skills in this profession is that not enough pros understand the fundamentals. We dive beyond the fundamentals without that grounding, a recipe for disaster.
We need to define the fundamentals, and we’ll do that soon.
Tiago Forte, an expert in skills and personal knowledge management, notes, “There is a hierarchy of skills that you have to acquire one by one to progress. More fundamental skills lie at the bottom, like the base of a pyramid, and serve as a foundation for gaining more advanced skills later on…Why spend more time as a novice than you have to? But if you don’t have a strong foundation and try to build too high, your efforts will inevitably crumble”.
