Hey Procurement Legend,
I was at Procurement & Supply Chain Live in London yesterday, a free event that brought together many people interested in Procurement & Supply Chain.
I stole this photo from
LinkedIn post. Some observations that I had from the event:
Procurement Pros are way behind the curve on digital procurement, and the conversations around digital are still basic. I will consider this and create more content here to help people transition into a digital way of thinking.
Risk Management is on the agenda, but I was hearing people talk about what risks should we be aware of in the next 5-10 years. This question, and questions like this, are not useful. They are impossible to answer. Rather, we should be focused on how to build an approach to address risks proactively rather than reactively.
Procurement pros are incredible at learning from one another, and events are a great place for this. I cannot help but feel that procurement events need to go beyond procurement and bring more actionable advice for people to use in their day roles whilst taking into account the perspectives of others.
What I’m optimistic about is that people do want to learn and improve. Continuous learning is what fuels me to create this content.
And if you haven’t got started on your continuous learning journey, please start by reading these books.
