🤔Do we have a Supply Chain Talent Crisis?
Procurement Tech companies need to change to be successful
Hey Procurement Legend,
We are almost into the final phase of Q1 - hope you’re smashing it.
I’m cognisant of the amount of email traffic you’re receiving so here’s what we’re committing to moving forwards:
Monday - Deep Dives into Tech, Skills, Mental Models for Procurement Pros (Paid Subscribers)
Wednesday - Procurement Legends Newsletter
Friday - Roundup Email of new content elsewhere such as YouTube Videos and Podcasts produced by World of Procurement.
What I'm Reading
64% of companies experience a shortage of skilled professionals due to a lack of attractiveness in supply chain careers and relevant training.
Professionals are under immense pressure due to supply chain disruptions and rising costs. The field is complex, requiring dynamic, flexible professionals who can handle long hours and global travel. Additionally, there's a need for upskilling the existing workforce as technology replaces some roles.
A huge concern.
Check out this article for a POV on this.
What I'm Thinking (about Procurement)
Mental models as the perfect procurement skill moving for bringing procurement out of its silo. We get too drawn into procurement speak and what procurement should do.
I’ll be dropping an article on Elon’s six rules next Monday.
One Procurement Tech-Focused Insight
The best procurement tech companies of the future will have the following blend:
AI & Workflow Based Product x Best People x Procurement Expert In-House x Useful non-SEO focused content that provides actionable steps one can take.
I’m seeing a few of these hires happening.
We will see more.
If you want to hear how to land one of these gigs (like I did), let me know and I can write more on this.
One Piece of Content I've Found Useful
I enjoyed reading this piece by Tonkean in the last week (and not solely because they quote my piece on Process Orchestration).
