I’ve experimented with AI for 18 months from a Gen AI perspective.
I first used AI in procurement four years ago. Perhaps longer.
It’s irrelevant, though.
What I see is a tool that will change the face of our tiny planet.
I see a technology that will bring untold benefits to our work, especially as knowledge workers. I’m excited for it.
But I’m conscious of the loss of humanity in the process.
We already have a world where emails, Zoom, and Slack messages are preferred to a phone call or an in-person meeting.
I used to be in that crowd. I’d favour chatting online over the real world.
But as we dive into the pool of AI, we free ourselves from the drudgery.
What do we have left?
For many of us, our roles are heavily built upon a soon-to-be collapsed tower of admin and passing information along.
That will end.
Being human is the shit.
We need to figure out what that looks like when the dust settles.
