Hey Procurement Legend,
Huge thanks to a bunch of you that have upgraded their membership from free to paid this month.
I’m working on a Procurement Second Brain video walkthrough for you that our paid community can access first.
Additionally, I’ll be creating some video content for you to help you start creating content about Procurement (in addition to the Friday Deep Dives).
If you are wanting any of this content then click the button and upgrade your subscription.
This Friday, I’ll be doing a deep dive into Elouise’s new book “How to hack your supply chain” which is also the release date of her book which you should all pre-order here as a priority.
What I'm Reading
I’m educating myself on the impact humans have on nature, people, the planet, throughout our supply chains. The Crimes Behind the Seafood You Eat is a must-read article for you all.
This article explores the dark side of the seafood industry, revealing the mistreatment and exploitation of Indonesian deckhands on Chinese fishing vessels. It highlights instances of physical abuse, forced labour, and the control China has over the industry. The article also raises concerns about China's use of its fishing fleet for surveillance and its impact on geopolitical dynamics. In short, it’s incredible.
What I'm Thinking (about Procurement)
The sheer volume of people who were so forward-thinking in their content last year and over recent years have reverted to being the hermit as Gen AI sweeps through every part of our working lives. My only message around the changes coming our way through tech is that they will be massive and impact roles. But you can get ahead by educating yourself on the changes AI will bring, how tech can be used, and how to avoid being replaced.
One Procurement Tech-Focused Insight
There is a tendency for tech to overlap currently. Finding one provider who stands out is hard because everyone is trying to do a bit of whatever everyone else is doing. If you’re looking at tech, ditch the RFP, run an agile process with 3-5 tech vendors, test out their solution, get demos, get hands-on, and make sure it works for your organisation.
One Piece of Content I've Found Useful
This piece by Gartner, whilst not procurement focused, is one I’d recommend you read: What Matters to CEOs and CFOs Right Now
